Mediation
Mediation is mandated by California Courts whenever an issue of child custody and/or visitation is brought before a Court.
The purpose of mediation is to have the parties create their own solutions for their own problems.
Mediation is non-adversary, cheap and quick process.
Mediation results are not binding unless entered into judgment by the Court.
Mediation is conducted by a neutral third party (appointed by the Court or selected by the parties) whose job is to promote mutually agreeable settlement or compromise. Nothing said during the mediation process can be used in the Court if the parties fail to come to an agreement.
